With a unique and vibrant character, Co. Cavan is undoubtedly one of Ireland’s best-kept secrets. Breathtaking landscapes, rich culture and a thriving hospitality scene combine to make Cavan a feast for the soul; whether rest and relaxation, adrenaline-fuelled activity or simple family fun, it’s got something for everyone.

The county offers a fabulous selection of accommodation ranging from contemporary hotels and lakeside chalets to homely B&Bs where a traditional Irish welcome is accompanied by a slice of sheer luxury and the very latest visitor amenities.

While natural talent and dedication were key to my success as an athlete, the support and genuine goodwill shown by my fellow county men and women were equally as important.

You may not be guaranteed warm weather but you will experience a warm welcome when you visit Cavan.

Fantastic lifestyle

Cavan has great heritage, busy cafes, pubs, restaurants and nightclubs, leisure centres, cinema, theatres, and a bowling alley.

Its many golf courses include the Slieve Russell which has hosted major championships and County Cavan Golf Club, one of the oldest in Ireland.

We are immensely proud of our equestrian centre, which is one of the largest in Europe with over 400 stables and host to major events including concerts and trade shows.

Located in the rural village of Blacklion in County Cavan, MacNean house and Restaurant has become a national phenomenon and at the core of my philosophy is a dedication to using only the finest local seasonal ingredients which we have available in Cavan.
